How to check a UK vacancy and apply safely

A practical checklist for jobseekers before sharing documents, paying for unrelated services or relying on a claim about sponsorship.

Check the vacancy

  1. Read the complete job title, duties, location, working arrangement, employment type and salary.
  2. Look for specific requirements and a closing date rather than relying only on a social-media message.
  3. Confirm that there is a clear, free way to apply.
  4. Check that contact details use the organisation's genuine website or published business information.

RKS candidate registration, vacancy access, applications and work-finding support are free.

Prepare a useful application

Match your CV to the evidence the role requests. Use clear dates, job titles and short descriptions of responsibilities and results. Do not claim qualifications, licences or experience you cannot verify.

Information worth preparing

  • Your current location and realistic travel or relocation preferences
  • Employment history with accurate dates
  • Relevant qualifications, licences and training
  • Availability and preferred working pattern
  • Your existing right-to-work position, described accurately

Treat sponsorship carefully

A vacancy mentioning sponsorship is not a promise that every applicant will qualify or receive a Certificate of Sponsorship. The employer must be appropriately licensed, the role and salary must meet the rules in force, and the individual must meet the applicable requirements.

RKS does not make visa decisions. Personal immigration advice, route selection and eligibility assessment should come from an IAA-regulated adviser or authorised legal professional.

Use the official GOV.UK visa guidance for current government information.

Report a concern

Stop before sending money or sensitive documents if a vacancy, recruiter message or sponsorship claim appears suspicious. Keep copies of messages and the page or account involved.

Email hello@rksagency.co.uk if the concern involves RKS or a vacancy published on this website.
